Sour Cream Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 0 :::::Crust:::::
  • 0 single pastry for 9 inch pie
  • 1 white egg
  • 0 :::::Topping:::::
  • 0.33 C sugar
  • 0.33 C flour
  • 1 T cinnamon
  • 0.25 C cold margarine
  • 0 :::::Filling:::::
  • 2 T flour
  • 1 C sour cream
  • 0.125 tsp salt
  • 0.75 C sugar
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 unbeaten egg
  • 2 C diced pared apples

Instructions

  1. Line pan with pastry. Flute edge. Brush bottom and sides--not fluted edge- with egg white.
  2. In mixing bowl, mix flour, salt and sugar. Add egg, sour cream, vanilla, and nutmeg.
  3. Stir to make a smooth thin batter, Stir in apples. Pour filling into pastry-lined pan.
  4. Bake at 400 for 15 minutes. Then at 350 for 30 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, make topping by mixing in a small bowl the sugar, flour and cinnamon. Cut in cold margarine with 2 knives, pastry blender or fingers.
  6. After 30 minute baking period is finished, remove pie from oven and raise temp to 400. Sprinkle pie with topping mixture, and return pie to oven for 10 more minutes.
